Those present:

1.  Apologies.

Apologies were received from Cllr A Duffen and Cllr K Paul.

 

2.  Minutes of Previous Finance and General Purposes Committee Meeting

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Minutes of the previous Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting held on Monday 18th November 2019 be approved as a true and correct record.

 

3.  Matters Arising.

a.)  Minute number 4.i.) Fire Risk Assessment.

Members were informed that Spectrum Fire Protection Services would be charging £800 for a site visit, which would take two people two days to assess before they could issue the Parish Council with a quotation for the works.  Members also informed that the Clerk had contacted the school to enquire who they were hiring to do the work on the school part of the premises and was informed that the Site Manager would be doing it.  The Clerk asked the Site Manager if he would be willing to carry out the work on the Parish Council side as well.  He stated that he had no objections but would need to clear this with the school.

 

4.  Correspondence.

a.)  West Midlands Pension Fund - Re: 2019 Provisional Valuation Results for Smith’s Wood Parish Council.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

b.)  Nick Cuming (Balfour Beatty) - Re: M6 Closure Programme - 9/12/2019 to 15/12/2019.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

c.)  Solihull MBC - Re: Your Solihull magazine winter 2019.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

d.)  Solihull MBC - Re: Notices: Christmas Day for the Elderley at Grimscote Manor; Jingle Bell Jog; G.L.O.W.; Single Parent Empowerment and Support Group.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

e.)  D & M Gym Services - Re: Quotation for repairs to equipment.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this quotation be accepted.


5.  Planning Applications

a.)  Solihull College, Auckland Drive - Re: 75 metre squared extension of existing brick laying workshop.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Parish Council inform the Planning Department that they have concerns over the parking facilities at the college and if they can accommodate the uptake of students, as the college is already experiencing difficulties with parking at the moment with students using the road and grass verges for parking, which is causing a hazard for other road users.

 

6.  Gym & Leisure Sub-Committee Meeting.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Minutes of the Gym & Leisure Sub-Committee meeting held on Monday 2nd December 2019 be approved as a true and correct record.

a.)  Minute number 4.a.) Opening Times.

Members were informed that all staff holidays allocated for the Christmas closure will be used.

 

b.)  Minute number 5. Scales of Fees and Charges.

Members were informed that the survey carried out for customer usage would be discussed that the next Sub-committee meeting.

 

c.)  Minute number 6.a.) Wage Rise.

Members were informed that the Clerk is to produce figures for the precept meeting.

 

7.  Smith’s Wood Community Gym

a.)  Gym Figures.

Members were presented with the latest figures.

 

8.  Accounts Presented, Bank Reconciliation and Budget.

a.)  Expenditure.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the following accounts be approved..

b.)  Bank Reconciliation

It was RECOMMENDED: That the bank reconciliation as at 30th November 2019 be accepted.

 

9.  Members Requests at the Chairman’s Discretion.

a.)  Remembrance Sunday Service.

Cllr Craig informed members that he had attended the Solihull MBC service and had laid a wreath on behalf of the Parish Council.


10.  Exclusion of Public and Press.

It was RECOMMENDED: That in accordance with Schedule 12a of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the following Agenda items: Staff Matters and Wages; Health and Safety; Security.
