It was RECOMMENDED: That the Minutes of the previous Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting held on Friday 3rd September 2018 be approved as a true and correct record.

5.  Financial Assistance Requests.

a.)  Safe and Sound - Portable Audio System.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the request for financial assistance of £233.78 be granted to Safe and Sound for the purchase of a Portable Audio System to aid the hard of hearing.

 

6.  Planning Applications

There were no applications received.

 

7.  Smith’s Wood Community Gym

a.)  Gym Figures.

Members were presented with gym figures for the months of July, August and September.

 

b.)  Gym Training for Under 18's.

Members were informed that a member of staff would like to run gym training sessions for the under 18's, but had yet to put forward a workable proposal.

 

c.)  Floor in Small Hall.

Members were informed that the school had decided not to make an insurance claim for the replacement flooring in the small hall, as the insurance company stated that they would only cover the floor area that was damage following the second flood.  It was agreed to wait until the invoice is forwarded by the school before a decision to pay is made.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the bank reconciliation as at 30th September 2018 be accepted.

 

9.  Members Requests at the Chairman’s Discretion.

a.)  Cabinet Meeting.

Cllr Craig informed members that he will be attending Solihull MBC’s Cabinet Meeting on Thursday 11th October 2018, to raise concerns about the proposals to build housing on Auckland Drive and Anglesey Avenue.  Cllr Mrs Harrison informed members that she had made a site visit to the land in Anglesey Avenue and said that she had noticed how overgrown the grass was, that leaf fall from last year was still in the walkways around this area, which are quite slippy when wet.  It was agreed that the Clerk contact Solihull MBC about this area.

 

10.  Exclusion of Public and Press.

It was RECOMMENDED: That in accordance with Schedule 12a of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the following Agenda items: Staff Matters and Wages; Health and Safety; Security.
