1.  Apologies.

There were no apologies received.

 

2.  Minutes of Previous Finance and General Purposes Committee Meeting

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Minutes of the previous Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting held on Friday 11th September 2017 be approved as a true and correct record.

 

3.  Matters Arising.

a.)  Minute number 8.b.) Meeting with School and Solihull MBC.

Members were informed that the delay was due the school not being happy with the proposals put forward by Solihull MBC.  The School have informed Solihull MBC that they will present their own proposals by the Autumn half-term, October 2017, and Solihull MBC will inform the Parish Council the outcome in due course.

 

b.)  Minute number 8.c.) Parking in Isis Grove.

Cllr Churchill informed members that he had meet with the Solihull MBC representative and that he was informed by the representative that, as the vehicles have road tax, they can be left in any street.  Cllr Churchill informed members that there is an area of waste ground that could be converted into parking bays for residents and that there were also some garages that could be demolished and used for parking bays also.  It was agreed that the Clerk contact Jim Harte and put these proposals to him.  Cllr Ted Richards to be copied into any correspondence.

 

4.  Correspondence.

a.)  Smith’s Wood Primary Academy - Re: Lift Report from Zurich.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Clerk inform the school that the Parish Council do not have the contract and can not instruct the contractors to carry out any works, therefore, it is the responsibility for the school to ensure that the works are carried out and the Parish Council will pay their contribution when the work is completed.

 

b.)  Society of Local Clerks - Re: General Data Protection Regulations webinar £30 Thursday 11th January 2018.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Clerk book a place on the above webinar.

 

c.)  Lee Stevenson (Solihull MBC) - Re: Notification of Proposed New Permanent Traffic Regulation Order - Burton’s Way, Smith’s Wood.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Clerk contact Lee Stevenson and ask if Burton’s Way has now been adopted.

 

d.)  Lee Stevenson - Re: Notification of Temporary Traffic Restrictions - A45/M42.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

e.)  Cllr Brian Brown (Cheswick Green Parish Council) - Re: SAC - Meeting 19th October at Balsall Common (Agenda, Minutes, etc).

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

f.)  Solihull-Sustain - Re: Sustain Alert 29/09/2017.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

a.)  Gypsy Encampment.

Cllr Rashid asked members if it could be noted in the Minutes that there was a gypsy encampment on The Green in neighbouring parish of Castle Bromwich.

 

10.  Exclusion of Public and Press.

It was RECOMMENDED: That in accordance with Schedule 12a of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the following Agenda items: Staff Matters and Wages; Health and Safety; Security.
