Finance and General Purposes Committee Minutes - Monday 3rd December 2018.

1.  Apologies.

There were no apologies received.

 

2.  Minutes of Previous Finance and General Purposes Committee Meeting

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Minutes of the previous Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting held on Monday 12th November 2018 be approved as a true and correct record.

 

3.  Matters Arising.

a.)  Minute number 3.a.) Heather Smith - Personal Trainer.

Members agreed that the Clerk arrange for Heather Smith to attend a meeting in the New Year.

 

b.)  Minute number 3.b.) Gym Training for under 18's.

Members were informed that Safeguarding training would need to be carried regardless of whether they set up gym training for under 18's.  Members agreed that training should take place in the New Year.

 

c.)  Minute number 3.c.) Floor in small hall.

Members were informed that no reply from the school had been received to date.

 

d.)  Minute number 6.b.)  Project Dance Academy

Members were informed that the Clerk had sent another letter to Christina Lal to comply with procedures for instigating legal action against her.

 

4.  Correspondence.

a.)  Solihull-Sustain - Re: Colebridge Alert - 30/11/2018.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

b.)  Lisa Olis (WMCA) - Re: Proposal to transfer the powers and responsibilities of the Police and Crime Commissioner to the Mayor of the West Midlands in May 2020.

It was RECOMMENDED: That any councillor wishing to comment to do so as a local resident.  That the Clerk check when the Mayor is up for election.

 

c.)  Natalie O’Dwyer (Balfour Beatty) - Re: M6 combined TM log: 3rd December 2018 to 9th December 2018.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

d.)  Deborah Merry (Solihull MBC) - Re: Estimated costs for 2019 elections.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Clerk enquire if the costs are for individual wards or for Smith’s Wood as a whole.

 

e.)  West Midlands Police - Re: Neighbourhood Alerts: Motorcycle Theft; Theft of Haircare Products; Pick Pockets active in Solihull.

It was RECOMMENDED: That these items be received and noted.  That the Clerk invite West Midlands Police to attend a meeting.

 

5.  Planning Applications

There were no applications received.

 

6.  Smith’s Wood Community Gym

a.)  Gym Figures.

Members were presented with the latest figures.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the bank reconciliation as at 30th November 2018 be accepted.

9.  Exclusion of Public and Press.

It was RECOMMENDED: That in accordance with Schedule 12a of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the following Agenda items: Saff Matters and Wages; Health and Safety; Security.
