Finance and General Purposes Committee Minutes - 8th July 2019

Those present:

1.  Apologies.

Apologies were received and accepted from Cllr F Churchill.

 

2.  Minutes of Previous Finance and General Purposes Committee Meeting

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Minutes of the previous Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting held on Monday 15th July 2019 be approved as a true and correct record.

 

3.  Matters Arising.

a.)  Minute number 10.a.) Pond - Arran Way.

Cllr Mrs Harrison informed members that planting had been installed at the site, which is hoped will deter children accessing the pond.  She also stated that a wooden fence has been proposed by Solihull MBC, to be installed around the grassed area rather than the pond.  It was agreed that the Parish Council support the installation of a metal fence like the one around the housing development at the junction of Auckland Drive and Arran Way rather than a wooden one.

 

4.  Correspondence.

a.)  Elizabeth Greenwood (Solihull MBC) - Re: Signage for Parish Council and Gym.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Parish Council accept the offer of speaking to the planning department on their behalf and that they wish the sign above the door to be square, illuminated and visible from the High Street.

 

b.)  H M Revenue & Customs - Re: Invitation to join Making Tax Digital for VAT: 116222750.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Clerk accept the invitation and join Making Tax Digital for VAT.

 

c.)  HSBC - Re: Important Changes to our terms and pricing.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

d.)  Sadie Walker (Solihull MBC) - Re: Survey - Healthy food provision during school holidays in North Solihull.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

e.)  Sue Watson - Re: Holiday Programme.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

f.)  Elizabeth Greenwood - Re: Bosworth Campus.  

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be forwarded to Dave Dixon.

 

g.)  Joseph Bright (Solihull MBC) - Re: HS2 Implementation Advisory Group, 18th July 2019, Civic Suite, Solihull Council at 6pm.

It was RECOMMENDED: That this item be received and noted.

 

h.)  West Midlands Police - Re: Neighbourhood Alerts: Cyber Security Tool for all; Please be aware; Public Wi-Fi Protect Message; Summer Crime Prevention Advice; Drivers Targeted with Fake Fines; One to watch out for; Our News - the Neighbourhood Watch e-newsletter; Be Careful What You Share; Tackling Knife Crime; Free Bike Marking - Halfords, Chester Road.

It was RECOMMENDED: That these items be received and noted.  

 

5.  Planning Applications.

There were no applications received.

 

6.  Community & Environment Sub-Committee.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Minutes of the Community & Environment Sub-Committee meeting held on Monday 1st July 2019 be approved as a true and correct record.

a.)  Minute number 3.b.) Fencing/Gating Off of Walkways.

Cllr Mrs Harrison informed members that she had looked at the walkways in her immediate area and saw no reason for these to be closed off.  It was agreed that this item be deferred to the next Sub-Committee meeting.

 

7.  Gym Sub-Committee.

It was RECOMMENDED: That the Minutes of the Gym Sub-Committee meeting held on Monday 8th July 2019 be approved as a true and correct record.

a.)  Gym Figures.

Members were presented with gym figures, as the Gym Sub-Committee was inquorate and no business was transacted.
